Burglesum, Residential quarter in Bremen, Germany
Burglesum is a residential quarter in northeast Bremen composed of five distinct neighborhoods: Burgdamm, Burg-Grambke, Lesum, St. Magnus, and Werderland. Each area has its own character, ranging from older housing with narrow streets to more modern residential developments.
The area developed from several independent villages that gradually merged into Bremen's administrative structure over time. This gradual integration of rural settlements created the varied character seen across its different neighborhoods today.
The Summer in Lesmona festival brings classical music performances to the neighborhood's outdoor spaces and brings residents together. These gatherings reflect how locals use the green areas as meeting places throughout the year.
The quarter is well served by multiple bus routes, including lines 87 through 95 and night line N7, providing regular connections throughout the area. Train connections to nearby towns such as Verden, Bremen Farge, and Bremen Vegesack offer additional travel options.
Dunger Lake in the Werderland area is home to a remarkable diversity of dragonflies that can be spotted throughout the warmer months. The lake provides visitors with a peaceful spot to observe these insects in their natural habitat.
