Universum Science Center, Science museum in Bremen, Germany
The Universum Science Center is an interactive science museum in the Bremen-Ost district of Bremen, Germany, whose striking metal shell resembles the silhouette of a marine creature. The exhibition areas spread across several floors and connect natural science topics with technical applications through hands-on stations for touching and trying out.
The center opened in early September 2000 near the university campus, aiming to make scientific education more accessible for all age groups. In the following years, the offerings were expanded with an outdoor area and rotating thematic exhibitions.
The name points to the ambition of presenting scientific connections from all fields of life, while families often use the installations for shared experiments. School groups from the region frequently spend entire mornings here, working at stations on topics like energy or sensory perception.
The facility is accessible from Tuesday to Sunday between ten and six in the evening, offering visitors the chance to conduct their own research at different stations. A cloakroom is available at the entrance, and the rooms are easy to navigate with strollers or wheelchairs.
In the outdoor area stands a tower that makes wind phenomena experienceable at different heights and is often crowded with children in good weather. The ground in front of the main building displays a large-scale solar panel mosaic that demonstrates energy generation right before your eyes.
