German Clock Museum

The German Clock Museum houses over 8,000 timepieces across 1,400 square meters of exhibition space, displaying the evolution of timekeeping devices.

Founded in 1874 as an educational institution, the museum originated from a collection started by Robert Gerwig to preserve traditional clockmaking techniques.

The museum exhibits demonstrate the Black Forest region's transformation from cottage industry clockmaking to industrial-scale timepiece production over centuries.

The museum opens daily from 9:00 to 18:00 between April and October, and from 10:00 to 17:00 from November through March.

Among the notable exhibits stands an astronomical clock from 1787, created by Benedictine priest Thaddäus Rinderle, displaying complex celestial movements.
