Breuer’s Häuschen, timber framed house
Breuer's Häuschen is a small timber-framed house in Düren featuring exposed wooden beams crossed over light-colored walls. The two-story building combines a stone brick base with traditional timber framing on the upper level, topped with a sloped slate roof and a hipped roof design.
The house was built in the middle of the 18th century and is more than 250 years old. Originally built as a residential home with guest quarters, it evolved into an important meeting place for the local community over the following centuries.
The house is named after a family that once lived there and continues to serve as a gathering place for the neighborhood today. Its timber-framed construction reflects building traditions that shaped the character of this part of Düren for centuries.
The house is located at Valencienner Straße 98 in the Gürzenich neighborhood and is easily accessible on foot. There is a small garden area where visitors can sit and explore the surroundings while observing the architectural details both inside and outside.
The house underwent complete renovation in 2019, after which the owners published a book documenting its history. The book launch event drew about 60 friends and neighbors who gathered to hear stories about decades of community life within its walls.
