Muppberg is a summit in Northern Bavaria that rises between the towns of Neustadt bei Coburg, Sonneberg, and Heubisch. A log shelter and a stone observation tower stand at the peak, drawing visitors to explore the site.
A medieval chapel once stood on the mountain until its destruction during the Reformation period. Later structures were built in the 1900s to develop the site as a destination.
The log cabin shelter on the summit provides a gathering place where hikers rest and take in views of the surrounding landscape. Locals built it to offer protection and a spot to enjoy the ridge.
Multiple hiking trails approach the summit from different directions in the surrounding area. The observation tower lets visitors see across the region, while the shelter provides refuge during weather changes.
The observation tower features carved stone reliefs depicting important Bavarian figures on its exterior. The stonework includes these portraits as part of its early 1900s artistic design.
