Burg Schaubeck

Burg Schaubeck is a medieval castle in Kleinbottwar that stands on an elevated position above the Bottwar River with two parallel wings and a central keep. The structure is surrounded by extensive gardens and contains multiple rooms for different purposes.

The castle was first documented in 1272 and controlled an important trade route connecting northwestern German regions with southern territories. This strategic location shaped its importance during the Middle Ages.

The building shows architectural styles from different periods, with timber framing from the 16th century and Renaissance windows that shape its appearance. Visitors can see this stylistic mixture clearly in the facades and interior spaces.

The location accommodates up to 150 guests across different rooms, including the 100-square-meter Tenne and the 50-square-meter Kaminraum. Visitors should be prepared for uneven terrain since the elevated position requires stairs and paths.

The castle houses active vineyards managed by the Adelmann family since 1914, combining modern production methods with historical structures. This blend of winemaking and old architecture is unusual for the region.
