Burg Schwabsburg

Burg Schwabsburg is a medieval castle ruin with a square limestone tower rising about 10 meters on each side and featuring very thick walls. This tower is the main feature of the site and shows the typical construction style of defensive structures from that era.

The castle was built around 1210 and served the powerful Staufer dynasty as a fortress in this strategic area. It was later damaged in military conflicts and never fully restored.

The fortress stands as a symbol of medieval power in this region, showing how local rulers used stone structures to assert control. The remaining walls tell of a time when such strongholds shaped daily life for surrounding communities.

The site is easy to reach and offers access to the tower via an internal steel staircase. Climbing these stairs gives you a view over the surrounding landscape from an elevated position.

Underground remains beneath the ruin show traces of older settlement layers, revealing that people lived here long before the castle was built. These archaeological hints point to an even deeper history of this location.
