Bunker Kunersdorf

Bunker Kunersdorf is a two-story underground facility in Bliesdorf equipped with telecommunications apparatus. The installation features multiple transmission stations and was designed to enable long-distance communication operations.

Construction of the bunker began in 1981 as a communications center for East Germany's defense ministry and continued until 1991. After the Berlin Wall fell, the facility was decommissioned and later repurposed.

The bunker served as a key communication hub for East German authorities during the Cold War. Visitors can observe how such facilities were integrated into the state's operations and infrastructure of that era.

Comfortable shoes are recommended since the underground passages are uneven and feature several staircases throughout. The facility can be cool underground, so bringing a layer of warm clothing is advisable.

The site contains a remarkable collection of around 1320 model aircraft of various sizes. These miniature planes were assembled over generations by aviation enthusiasts and reflect a decades-long passion for flight.
