Burg Straßberg

Burg Straßberg is a medieval castle on a strategic hilltop near the German town of Straßberg. The structure features a square tower, residential buildings, and sections of fortification walls that remain visible across the site.

The castle began construction around 1200 and received major additions in the 13th century, including a four-story defensive tower. It was built by the Lords of Straßsberg, who served as ministerial knights for the Vaz family.

The name reflects the road that passes by, which was once controlled by the castle lords for trade purposes. Visitors can sense how this location commanded the flow of goods and people through the valley.

The site is accessible via paths on the hillside, offering good views across the surrounding landscape. The ground is uneven in places due to the age of the stone work, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
