Burg Gräbelesberg, Medieval hilltop castle ruins in Laufen an der Eyach, Germany
Located at 915 meters altitude, the castle site contains defensive walls and ditches forming a two-part fortification system on the Gräbelesberg plateau.
The castle structures date back to the 6th century, with reinforcements added during medieval times to protect against Magyar invasions.
Archaeological excavations in 1939 revealed a metal workshop with bronze age casting molds, indicating early craftmanship activities at the site.
The castle grounds are accessible from Albstadt-Lautlingen or Albstadt-Laufen train stations via the Hossinger Leiter hiking trail.
The fortification system includes double wall-and-ditch structures that may have connections to Celtic burial mounds in the region.
