Burg Lichtenfels, Medieval castle ruins in Rottweil, Germany.
The castle remains include a fully preserved shield wall and portions of the southern wall at 500 meters above sea level between Leinstetten and Bettenhausen.
Built in the 12th century by the Counts of Hohenberg, the castle experienced its first destruction during the Battle of Leinstetten in 1298.
The noble Lichtenfels family maintained connections with the Lords of Dettingen, as evidenced by their shared heraldic symbols and architectural elements.
The castle ruins, now owned by Baron von Podewils following renovations at the end of the 20th century, remain accessible for public exploration.
The structure's strategic position allowed it to control the region until Countess Henriette of Württemberg's siege led to Count Friedrich of Zollern's capture.
