Burg Rosenstein, Medieval castle ruin near Heubach, Germany
The castle ruins stand at 686 meters above sea level on a rocky spur, featuring remnants of outer and inner fortification structures.
First documented in 1282, the castle belonged to the Counts of Oettingen before passing to Württemberg in 1358 through territorial changes.
The ruins represent medieval military architecture of Baden-Württemberg and form part of the Staufer Dynasty Heritage Route since 1997.
Visitors reach the castle ruins through a network of marked hiking trails starting from the town of Heubach, located 1500 meters to the west.
The castle walls served as a stone quarry for Heubach residents after abandonment, contributing to its current fragmented state.
