Burg Hohenhardt

Burg Hohenhardt is a medieval fortified complex on elevated terrain near Wiesloch, featuring a historic tower house and defensive walls as its core structures. The ensemble consists of several buildings built closely together, their old stone structures defining the visual character of the site.

The fortress served as the seat of the Hohenhardt noble family starting in the 12th century, documenting their presence in the region for over two centuries. After the family line ended in the 13th century, the property changed hands and underwent several alterations.

The site takes its name from the noble family that shaped the area for centuries through their residence here. The buildings still bear traces of their past, even though the purpose of the place has fundamentally changed.

The castle sits on a hill and can be reached from Wiesloch, with access leading through the adjacent golf course grounds. The site functions today mainly as a golf facility and event venue, so visiting ahead of time should be arranged.

A coat of arms stone from the 17th century is mounted above the manor house entrance, representing the union of two noble houses through marriage. This stone testimony shows how the ruling families became interwoven across generations and formed new alliances.
