Burg Neipperg

Burg Neipperg is a castle in Brackenheim with two massive towers about 50 meters apart, suggesting two originally separate fortified structures. The towers are connected by walls and together form a complex medieval fortification.

The castle was built in the 12th century and served the Neipperg family as their ancestral seat until the 16th century. Construction took place over several phases as the structure grew in importance.

The upper tower's arcade windows show design features influenced by craftsmen from the Maulbronn Monastery workshop. This architectural style shapes how the fortress appears today.

You can access the castle grounds from outside, but the main building remains private and closed to visitors. Some areas are difficult to reach with a wheelchair, so it is worth checking accessibility beforehand.

The lower tower is supported by exceptionally thick walls and has its entrance positioned high up, a defensive design feature. These characteristics were typical of fortifications that needed to resist attack.
