Burg Neuenburg, Medieval castle ruins in Durach, Germany.
The stone remains of Burg Neuenburg stand on a forested hill spur, featuring remnants of defensive walls and a partially preserved tower structure.
Built after 1300 for the Lords of Sulzberg, the castle changed ownership to the Schellenberg family in 1380 following the death of Konrad Schenk.
The castle ruins demonstrate medieval architectural techniques and defensive strategies used in Bavarian fortifications during the 14th century.
The castle site, located at Burg 139 1/2 in Durach, underwent preservation work in 1993 to stabilize the remaining structures for future generations.
Archaeological excavations in 1992 revealed traces of a detonation shaft near the ruins, indicating attempts to demolish parts of the structure.
