Burgruine Hardeck

The fortification stands at 296 meters above sea level, constructed from basalt and sandstone with walls extending over 300 meters in circumference.

The castle's establishment dates to the year 900, serving as an administrative center until 1464 when the last administrator, Eckart Riedesel, relocated to Büdingen.

The remains include foundations of multiple buildings, a circular tower base, and elevated areas suggesting the location of the former great hall.

The castle ruins maintain a deep moat reaching seven to nine meters in depth toward the northern section, with visible stone remnants of walls.

Water supply presented constant challenges, requiring transportation from a spring two kilometers away to sustain the castle's inhabitants.
