Bürgerpark

The Bürgerpark covers 200 hectares with landscaped gardens, lakes, walking paths, meadows, forests, and several recreational facilities next to Bremen Central Station.

The park originated in 1866 when Bremen citizens acquired 45 hectares of agricultural land and commissioned landscape architect Wilhelm Benque for its design.

The park includes numerous sculptures, monuments, and memorial benches dating back to 1868, documenting the cultural heritage of Bremen through art installations.

Visitors can enjoy multiple activities including minigolf, animal enclosures, boat rentals on Hollersee Lake, educational trails, and outdoor concerts throughout the year.

The park maintains its operations through private funding, primarily from the Bürgerparkverein association and the annual Bürgerpark lottery, without regular public financial support.
