Museum of Saxon vehicles

The Museum of Saxon Vehicles is an automobile museum dedicated to the region's manufacturing heritage, displaying over 200 vehicles from approximately 50 local makers. The collection includes cars, motorcycles, and bicycles housed within a historic industrial building.

Established in 1995, the museum preserves two centuries of Saxon automotive manufacturing, tracing the rise and significance of legendary brands like DKW, MZ, Wanderer, and Auto Union. These companies once shaped the region's industrial economy and international reputation.

The collection reflects how automotive manufacturing shaped the region's identity and daily life for generations, with vehicles that represented the skill and pride of local workers. Visitors can see how these products remain connected to community memory.

The building is wheelchair accessible and easy to navigate on foot, with plenty of space for exploring the different exhibition areas. Plan to spend several hours viewing the extensive collection and details on display.

The museum hosts regular events where visitors contribute over 1000 objects collected from local residents, bringing personal stories and family connections to the displays. These contributions create a living archive that changes and grows with community participation.
