Founded in January 2011, the museum preserves a collection of photographic devices ranging from early camera designs to modern photography equipment.
The collection reflects everyday photography history by featuring common cameras that German families used throughout different decades rather than focusing on rare pieces.
Located between Nuremberg and Bayreuth along the A9 motorway, the museum opens every Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM with audio guides at 37 stations.
The museum houses a giant reproduction camera measuring 4 meters in length, capable of producing negatives in a 70 x 70 centimeter format.
