Königliche Eisenbahndirektion Berlin, Administrative building in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Germany
The red brick structure stands at Schöneberger Ufer 1-3, featuring Renaissance architectural elements with granite staircases and ornate ceiling moldings.
Built between 1892 and 1895, the building served as headquarters for the Royal Prussian Railway Administration, managing 587 kilometers of railway tracks.
The building appears in Hans Fallada's novel 'Ein Mann will nach oben' and represents the expansion of German railway infrastructure in the 19th century.
The Federal Police Directorate 11 currently occupies the building, which underwent complete renovation between 1991 and 1995.
In 1928, the building gained attention when criminals attempted to steal payroll money, marking a notable event in its security history.
