Stockdorf, District of Gauting in Upper Bavaria, Germany

Stockdorf is a district of Gauting in Upper Bavaria, situated at about 553 meters elevation along the Würm River. Dense forests including Forst Kasten and Kreulinger Forst surround the area and form much of its natural landscape.

Archaeological discoveries from the Bronze Age and Hallstatt period, including bronze bowls and iron swords, show that people lived in this area in ancient times. These findings reveal that the region was an important settlement location for early communities.

Two main religious centers shape community life here: the Catholic Church of St. Vitus and the Lutheran congregation, which are deeply rooted in local traditions. These congregations remain important gathering places that bring residents together.

The train station, built in 1854, offers regular connections to Munich and serves as the main transport hub for the area. This good connection makes it easy to explore the surrounding region and reach Munich quickly.

Webasto AG, founded in 1908, began here and became a major automotive supplier known worldwide for its roof and heating systems. The area is also home to the George-Vithoulkas Foundation for Classical Homeopathy, an organization focused on alternative medicine research.
