Tombe double d'Oberkassel, Archaeological site in Oberkassel, Germany.

The Oberkassel tombs are an archaeological excavation site near Bonn that contained the remains of two people and an animal. The skeletons and burial goods were found in a basalt quarry and date back to the late Stone Age.

Workers discovered the burial site in 1914 at a quarry and found human remains from roughly 13,000 to 14,000 years ago. The discovery documents one of the oldest known settlements in this region of Germany.

The burial site displays bone tools and carved designs that reveal the craftsmanship of people who lived here long ago. These objects show how skilled inhabitants were at making things and creating art in their daily lives.

The archaeological finds from this site are displayed at the Rheinisches Landesmuseum in Bonn, where visitors can view them and learn more about the excavation. The museum is the best place to see these ancient artifacts and understand their significance.

This location provides the earliest known evidence of dog domestication, since a dog skeleton was buried alongside human remains. It reveals a special bond between people and animals that is far older than previously thought.
