Handelshof, Cultural heritage monument near Lübeck Main Station, Germany.
The Handelshof is a steel-framed commercial building with clinker brick cladding located near Lübeck Central Station. The structure is defined by two ceramic sculptures positioned above its entrance portal.
The building was completed in 1924 based on designs by architects Christian Zauleck and Franz Hormann as headquarters for the Paetow & Stühmer company. It became a defining feature of the station district during a period of rapid economic growth.
The building displays Brick Expressionism features typical of northern German architecture. The red clinker brick facade and the two ceramic sculptures above the entrance reflect the construction style of that era.
The building now operates as a hotel and can be viewed from outside, with the fully restored facade easily visible from the station plaza. Access to the area is level and suitable for different mobility levels.
The facade underwent extensive restoration with specific funding dedicated to preserving the distinctive brickwork. This careful reconstruction work is visible today in the detailed restoration of the original materials and structural details.
