St. Georg, Catholic church in Vreden, Germany.
The St. Georg church features clean architectural lines with a simple facade design and stands as a prominent structure at Kirchplatz in Vreden.
The current building, constructed between 1952 and 1957, replaced a late Gothic hall church that was completely destroyed during World War II.
The church houses an Antwerp altarpiece from 1520, which survived World War II through evacuation and remains one of the few preserved furnishings.
The church contains a five-bell bronze assembly in the tower, producing notes in b0, c1, d-flat1, e-flat1, and f1.
Archaeological excavations revealed foundations of six previous churches at this location, with the oldest dating back to a Carolingian structure from 820/830.
