Treskow Bridge, Steel girder bridge in Treptow-Köpenick, Germany.
The Treskow Bridge is a steel girder crossing over the Spree River in eastern Berlin, linking the industrial neighborhoods of Niederschöneweide and Oberschöneweide. The structure carries both heavy vehicle traffic and tram lines simultaneously across the water.
Engineer Karl Bernhard designed the original span in 1904 to connect the industrial areas. It was destroyed during World War II but rebuilt in 1954 with some original elements incorporated into the new design.
The bridge carries the name of Sigismund von Treskow, a German aristocrat and politician who influenced the development of the region.
The bridge is walkable and accessible by bicycle and public transport, offering views of the river and surrounding industrial landscape. The best way to experience it is to cross slowly and observe both the construction details and the waterfront setting.
During the 1930s, the bridge underwent major modifications to handle increasing traffic demands and expand its capacity. These changes remain visible today in the mix of older and newer structural elements throughout the design.
