Eddersheim is a district of Hattersheim am Main stretching across both sides of the river with an area of about 4.5 square kilometers. It sits at an elevation of about 91 meters and features a lock on the Main, which is essential for inland shipping.
The place emerged as a port settlement at a key point on the Main and developed into an industrial and residential area in the 20th century. In 1972, it merged with the neighboring community of Okriftel and became part of the present-day city of Hattersheim am Main.
