Schlichemtalsperre, zbiornik retencyjny (Badenia-Wirtembergia, Niemcy)
Schlichemtalsperre is an artificial lake in Baden-Württemberg that dams the Schlichem river and stretches about 1.5 kilometers in length. The water is clear and clean with green, tree-covered banks, and a paved path circles the lake allowing visitors to walk, cycle, or jog around it.
The dam was built in 1940 and completed during World War II, originally to supply water for a cement factory and for power generation. After the war, the state of Baden-Württemberg took over the facility and later used it for flood protection.
The reservoir is a gathering place where locals and visitors enjoy simple outdoor activities such as swimming, walking, and cycling year-round. Summer brings organized running events while winter brings ice-stock sport, and anglers come throughout the seasons to fish in the water.
The lake can be reached by car across the dam crest, with parking available at the base of the Palmbühls and near a pilgrimage church. The path around the lake is paved and easy to walk, making it suitable for visitors of all ages.
An old stone railway bridge with an arched design crosses the lake and has existed unchanged for more than a century. This historic bridge is a favorite photo spot for visitors because of its attractive curved lines.
