Eisstadion an der Nibelungenbrücke, Ice stadium near Nibelungen Bridge in Regensburg, Germany.
The Eisstadion an der Nibelungenbrücke was an open-air ice rink with concrete spectator areas and metal railings, capable of seating up to 6000 visitors. The structure was built to host winter sports events and ice hockey matches in the outdoor setting beside the bridge.
The facility opened in November 1964 after a five-month construction driven by Mayor Rudolf Schlichtinger's campaign pledge to build an ice venue for the city. It remained operational through the 1998/99 season, when all ice sports activities relocated to the newly built Donau Arena.
The venue became the heart of Regensburg's ice hockey community for generations. Locals gathered here to support their team and celebrate winter sports as a central part of the city's recreational life.
The site was located directly beside the Nibelungen Bridge, making it easily accessible from the city center. The facility is no longer operational and exists primarily as a piece of local history without active visitor amenities.
Before this stadium opened, local ice hockey teams practiced on natural ice near Fidelis Church in Regensburg during the 1930s. These early informal gatherings laid the groundwork for the organized ice sports culture that would later flourish at the new venue.
