Schloss Jößnitz, Medieval castle in Plauen, Germany
The remaining structure of Schloss Jößnitz stands on an elevated position overlooking the Vogtland region with a round tower and Renaissance features.
First documented in 1282, the castle changed ownership multiple times until the von Watzdorf family held it from 1530 to 1842, marking a significant period.
The castle grounds include a park with a pond, fountain, and a Swiss-style garden pavilion that represents early 20th-century craftsmanship.
The castle functions as a hotel and restaurant, with annual medieval events featuring craft demonstrations, knight tournaments, and market activities.
In 1830, Baron Otto von Watzdorf made history as the only nobleman in Vogtland to abolish serfdom on his estate.
