Wünsch-Berg, Summit in Lebach, Germany
Wünsch-Berg is a hilltop reaching about 294 meters in elevation, positioned east of Lebach's center and south of the Theel River. From the top, you can see across the surrounding landscape and down toward the town.
In 1913, the town built a water storage tank on the hilltop to replace the Jakobsbrunnen well, which had caused health issues. This facility served the town's water needs for many years afterward.
The Schönstatt Movement built a Marian chapel here in 1970, creating a place of prayer and pilgrimage that visitors still use today. The site draws people from the region who come to attend services and religious celebrations.
The hill is accessible from Lebach via several walking trails that wind through the natural surroundings. Wear sturdy shoes, especially after rain when the paths can be muddy or slippery.
A retreat center opened here in 1978 with sleeping quarters for visiting groups and pilgrims. The building with about 30 rooms and 50 beds has been offered for sale since 2017.
