Solmspark, City park in Rödelheim, Germany
Solmspark is a city park in Rödelheim located on an island between the Nidda River and the Mühlgraben. The grounds feature open grass areas, mature trees, and are surrounded by water on several sides.
A water castle stood on the park grounds from the 12th century until it was demolished in 1864. The Solms family then built a classical palace on the same site.
The name comes from the Solms family, who ruled this land for centuries and left their mark on the area. Visitors can still see the old paths and structures that show how important this place was to the family's legacy.
The park is easy to reach by several pathways and has a children's playground along with seating areas for resting. It can also be used as part of Frankfurt's cycling network for a longer route.
The park is home to a Caucasian wingnut tree that spreads widely and is rarely seen in Germany. This tree is a botanical gem that catches the eye of many visitors.
