Roedeliusplatz, Public square in Lichtenberg, Germany.
Roedeliusplatz is a rectangular public square in Lichtenberg with the former Glaubenskirche at its center and the district court building along its southern edge. The square underwent major renovations from 2010 to 2023 that improved its layout and public amenities.
Created in 1897 as Wagnerplatz, the square received its current name in 1935 to honor Adalbert Roedelius, the first administrator of the judicial district. The church was built between 1903 and 1905 combining multiple architectural styles.
The Glaubenskirche at the center hosts Berlin's Coptic Orthodox community and displays a mix of architectural styles from different periods. Visitors can observe how this religious building has become a focal point for the local community.
The site is easy to navigate on foot with a clear layout that helps visitors move between different areas. There are seating areas and green spaces where you can stop and observe the surroundings.
The 'Einschlüsse' memorial installed in 2022 commemorates victims of military justice during the Soviet occupation and East German regime. This monument reflects how the location engages with difficult chapters of its past.
