Hochhaus am Park, Architectural structure in Westend-Nord district, Frankfurt, Germany
Hochhaus am Park is a two-part building in Frankfurt with two connected towers reaching about 96 meters high. The residential tower shows a bright glass facade, while the hotel section is darker and contains 136 hotel rooms with restaurant facilities.
The building was constructed in 1975 but exceeded permitted height limits, resulting in a temporary halt to construction. Developer Willi Göbel settled the issue with a payment of one million Deutsche Marks to complete the project.
The structure shaped how Frankfurt developed as a residential city in the 1970s, bringing housing and dining services near the university grounds. Visitors can still see today how the two towers mark the neighborhood and connect modern living with green space nearby.
The building sits directly next to Grüneburgpark, where visitors can walk and rest easily. From its height, you can see the entire Frankfurt skyline and the surrounding hills of Taunus, Spessart, and Odenwald from many viewpoints.
The building became known due to the legal dispute over its excessive height, making it an example of Frankfurt's strict building limits. This story shows how planning conflicts in the 1970s were still relatively simple to resolve.
