The Nauen Transmitter Station contains multiple steel lattice masts and transmission buildings spread across 40 hectares of Brandenburg countryside.
Telefunken established this transmission station in 1906, making it the first operational long-wave radio facility that connected Germany with distant territories.
The 1920 transmitter building, designed by Hermann Muthesius, represents the architectural standards of early radio communication structures in Europe.
The station continues to serve international broadcasting purposes, with modern rotating antennas and high-capacity transmitters operated by Media Broadcast GmbH.
During World War I, the station achieved communication ranges of 3,500 kilometers using a 25 kW spark-gap transmitter with an umbrella antenna system.
