Nauen museum, Local museum in Nauen, Germany
Nauen Museum was a place where objects and documents from the Brandenburg region were collected and displayed. It showed the history and daily life of the city through changing exhibitions across many decades.
The institution started in 1901 when a city clerk and a teacher began gathering local objects. Over the decades the collection grew, but in 1945 war events caused significant damage.
The museum helped shape how visitors understood and experienced Nauen's past. Through its displays, local traditions and the way people lived in earlier times became visible to the public.
The building moved to different locations because it occupied former school buildings that were converted for its use. Visitors should check beforehand since the museum closed in 2001.
By 1920 the collection already held more than 8,300 objects, including furnished rooms showing how people lived in earlier times. This extensive gathering was heavily reduced by war events.
