Nauen, Administrative municipality in Havelland District, Germany
Nauen is an administrative town in Havelland District, Brandenburg, situated roughly 45 kilometers west of Berlin. The town includes a central area and several surrounding villages that spread across gentle hills and farmland.
The settlement received town rights in 1292 from the margraves of Brandenburg. Its first town hall followed just ten years later, marking the start of municipal administration.
The municipality incorporates 17 distinct localities, each contributing to the regional heritage through regular community events and local traditions.
The town sits on the Berlin-Hamburg railway line, providing connections in both directions. Visitors find shops and restaurants in the center as well as cobbled streets that are easy to explore on foot.
The Nauen Transmitter Station ranks among the oldest preserved radio installations in the world and still broadcasts today. Individual components and masts date from the early years of the twentieth century and remain in operation.
