Eutersee, reservoir in Germany
Eutersee is a small reservoir in the Odenwald region straddling the border between Hesse and Baden-Württemberg, with gentle forested shores and a sandy beach area at its northern edge. A footpath circles the water, and a shelter hut and picnic meadow serve visitors who come to walk or rest by the shore.
The reservoir was built in 1971 as a flood control measure to store water during heavy rainfall and prevent flooding in the region. The state border between Hesse and Baden-Württemberg runs through the water, dividing the site between two federal states.
The reservoir is accessible by car via marked roads with parking available at the northern area, providing direct access to the beach and picnic meadow. Sturdy footwear is recommended for walking the shore path, and benches are placed at intervals for rest.
A fish ladder built into the dam allows fish to bypass the barrier and migrate to their spawning grounds upstream. A nearby campground spanning eleven hectares attracts families and groups seeking to spend nights surrounded by forest and meadows.
