The Museum der Stadt Butzbach occupies 1,000 square meters of exhibition space across multiple floors in a renovated building between two castles.
Founded in 1894 as an antiquities and costume museum, the institution moved to its current location in 1993 after being housed in the Gothic Michaeliskapelle.
The museum displays traditional costumes from the 18th to 20th centuries, archaeological Roman artifacts, and exhibits about local crafts and industrialization.
Visitors can explore the museum on Wednesdays from 15:30 to 19:30, Fridays and Saturdays from 14:00 to 17:00, and Sundays from 10:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 17:00.
The museum houses the world's largest collection of miniature shoes, featuring over 200 models documenting European shoe history from cave dwellers to astronauts.
