Schloss Seerhausen, Historic water castle in Stauchitz, Germany
The castle grounds include a preserved chapel with neo-Romanesque elements and several service buildings surrounding a former rectangular structure with a narrow courtyard.
Originally mentioned in 1170 as Reinhardus de Serusne, the castle belonged to the von Schleinitz family until 1688 when it was acquired by Christian von Bose.
The castle park, designed in 1695 following Dutch models, underwent modifications in 1774 to incorporate French garden elements and 19th-century Romantic features.
The castle site, maintained by the Förderverein Seerhausen organization in cooperation with Stauchitz municipality, remains open for visitors to explore the grounds.
After World War II, the main castle structure faced demolition in 1949, yet its economic buildings and 17th-century chapel continue to stand at the location.
