Bicycle bridge

The bicycle bridge in Constance is a steel structure with a main span of approximately 67 meters and a box girder design. It connects different parts of the city and provides a dedicated route for cyclists and pedestrians.

The project began in 2006 with a design competition and went through multiple planning stages before construction started. The bridge opened in July 2016.

The bridge serves as a vital link in the local cycling network, used daily by commuters and recreational riders moving between different neighborhoods. It reflects how central cycling is to getting around Constance.

The path is accessible year-round and features LED lighting for visibility during darkness. Regular maintenance keeps the bridge in good working condition.

The bridge won the Footbridge Award in Berlin in 2017 for its technical design, particularly for specialized elevation solutions added after community feedback. These adjustments show how the planning took user needs into account.
