Schwäbisches Bauernhofmuseum Illerbeuren, Open-air museum in Illerbeuren, Germany.
The Schwäbisches Bauernhofmuseum Illerbeuren is an open-air museum with more than 30 historical buildings from different periods. The collection includes farmhouses, workshops, stables, and gardens spread across a large outdoor site.
The museum was founded over 60 years ago and is one of the oldest open-air museums in southern Germany. Its buildings date from the 17th century onwards and reveal how rural structures developed across centuries.
The buildings show how people in the Allgäu and Ries regions lived and worked through daily routines. Crafts, farming methods, and family life are visible in the furnishings and structures that changed little across generations.
The museum is located south of Memmingen and is open from March to November. It has parking spaces for cars and campers, and winter hours are reduced.
The Shooting Culture House displays 500 years of regional shooting traditions through a digital presentation of a historical shooting meadow. This special collection offers a rare look at a local custom and public celebration that remains alive today.
