Prince-Abbot of Kempten, Baron Honorius von Schreckenstein, established the building in 1781 as a provostry and hunting lodge, completing construction within three years.
The castle transformed into a Female Educational Institution of Higher Education in 1838, providing German and international students with comprehensive academic instruction.
