Lulustein, Historic memorial stone in Alt-Saarbrücken, Germany

The Lulustein, constructed from black granite, stands on the former parade ground behind the ATSV Saarbrücken sports hall in Alt-Saarbrücken.

On August 2, 1870, Napoleon III allowed his 14-year-old son to fire a mitrailleuse cannon from this location during the Franco-Prussian War.

The memorial symbolizes a significant moment in European military history, marking the farthest advance of French troops during the Franco-Prussian War.

The stone monument bears the inscription 'Lulustein 2ten August 1870 V.V.' and is accessible through the street named after it.

Numerous visitors have damaged the monument over time by breaking off pieces as souvenirs, requiring multiple replacements since its installation.
