Villa Obenauer

Villa Obenauer is a two-story modern residential building in Saarbrücken with a cubic form and gabled roof, complemented by rectangular plaster surfaces and a terrace with pergola columns. The structure sits on a southeastern slope and can be viewed from different elevation points.

Merchant Gustav Obenauer commissioned architect Peter Behrens in 1904 to design the house, with construction taking place from 1905 to 1907. After completion, the building shaped the development of modern residential architecture in the region.

The residence displays modern design with clean geometric forms and balanced proportions that represented a new direction in architecture. Its simple lines and functional details continue to shape how visitors perceive the building today.

The house is located at Trillerweg 58 on a southeastern slope, which creates different viewing angles on the facade. This hillside location makes it possible to explore the architecture from different levels.

A federal agency occupied the house until 2000, before major renovations restored the original elements. This work combined historical authenticity with modern improvements for current use.
