Fuchsturm, Stone tower on Hausberg hill in Jena, Germany.
The Fuchsturm is a stone tower standing 30 meters high on Hausberg hill in Jena. A spiral staircase winds upward to the observation platform, offering views over the surrounding area.
The tower was built in the 12th century as part of a castle complex. It is the only structure that survives from four medieval fortifications that once occupied Hausberg hill.
The name comes from the Latin Vulpecula Turris, and it is counted among the Seven Wonders of Jena. Local stories and traditions have grown around this place, shaping how residents understand its role in their city.
The tower is reachable from the free parking area at Steinkreuz. The internal staircase is steep, so visitors should wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for the climb.
At the base of the tower sits a mountain restaurant established in 1868, making it the oldest dining house in Jena. Inside is a special hall called the Knights Hall, which adds character to the dining experience.
