Fuldatalbrücke Kragenhof, Railway bridge in Staufenberg and Fuldatal, Germany
The Fuldatalbrücke Kragenhof is a double-track railway bridge that spans the Fulda Valley as part of the Hannover-Würzburg high-speed line. The structure connects the communities of Staufenberg and Fuldatal with a steel lattice framework that stretches across the wide valley.
This railway bridge was built between October 1986 and November 1988 as a modern addition to the high-speed rail corridor. It replaced older crossing methods and enabled faster train connections through the region.
The steel framework echoes the design language of the nearby historic Fuldatal Bridge from 1855, which was part of the Hanover Southern Railway. Visitors can observe this connection between generations of bridge engineering as they cross the valley.
The bridge is best viewed from the valley below, where walking paths offer good angles on the structure. The entire year offers opportunities to visit, though autumn light conditions showcase the steel framework particularly well.
The maximum span of individual sections reaches nearly 74 meters, a remarkable technical achievement for its era. This section is part of a nine-kilometer stretch where older and newer route alignments run side by side.
