Kulturzentrum Schlachthof

The Kulturzentrum Schlachthof is a cultural center in a former slaughterhouse building in Nordstadt featuring multiple spaces for events. The main building contains a large event hall, bar, and fireplace room, complemented by outdoor areas with a beer garden.

The site was originally a slaughterhouse that relocated to Waldau in 1973, leaving the buildings vacant. Local residents took over the buildings in 1978 and transformed them into a cultural center.

The center draws people from across the neighborhood who come to hear music, see art exhibitions, or join discussion forums. It is a place where different cultures and generations come together.

The location offers seven group rooms, two music practice spaces, and a kitchen for various events and activities. Visitors can rent the rooms for private celebrations or attend public events.

The center also functions as an integration space for the neighborhood, where many people from different backgrounds live. Language courses and educational programs are offered here to help people connect with the community.
