The Lichtenberger Bridge is a road bridge in Lichtenberg that spans railway lines and connects different districts of Berlin. The steel and concrete structure has eight lanes total and crosses the Wriezen Railway line near Lichtenberg station.
An original iron bridge from 1870 served the area until 1975, when construction of a new structure began to handle growing traffic needs. The southern section opened in December 1975, with the northern portion completed at a later date.
The bridge serves as a main traffic link connecting residential and commercial areas across eastern Berlin through Frankfurter Allee. It plays a central role in how residents navigate between different parts of the district in their daily routines.
The 137-meter-long structure offers four lanes in each direction, enabling steady traffic flow between major Berlin districts. Pedestrians and cyclists can also use the bridge, benefiting from its central location on Frankfurter Allee.
The structure consists of two separate sections built at different times, resulting in distinct construction techniques for each part. This two-phase construction reflects how Berlin's traffic infrastructure evolved during the 1970s.
