Historisches Kaufhaus, Historical retail museum in Nordenham, Germany

The Historical Kaufhaus is a museum in Nordenham housed in a former retail shop. The rooms contain thousands of items from commerce and household life across different periods, from tools to accessories.

Johann Hermann Büsing opened a general store in Abbehausen's former post office on 12 May 1853. His son Gustav Heinrich Büsing took over in 1891 and had the residential and commercial building at Butjadinger Straße 101 built in 1897. Elimar Freese, who had apprenticed with Gustav in 1911, became owner in 1947; his son Elmer Freese led the store from 1965.

The museum shows how daily shopping and life worked in the region over time. Original fixtures and goods still fill the rooms, reflecting the values and needs of people who shopped there for generations.

The location has set opening hours and visitors should check beforehand when access is available. The ground floor operates as an active shop, making it possible to shop and explore at the same time.
