St. Michael

St. Michael features a distinct cruciform vaulted basilica structure with slender buttresses adorned with floral motifs and tall stained glass windows around the choir walls.

The church site contains remnants from the 9th century, with the current structure's oldest section dating to the 12th century as a cruciform basilica with Romanesque elements.

The interior displays multiple altar pieces, including the Annenaltar, the Altar of 14 Holy Helpers, and a high altar featuring the Archangel Michael as city protector.

The largest religious building in the Brakel pastoral area provides 500 seats and offers special guided tours for children led by Timotheus the church mouse.

The church organ contains painted wings depicting the Annunciation of Mary on one side and the Nativity of Jesus on the other side.
